LAUDATO SI - St. Francis Sunday - Żołędowo / Poland

"Proofs of love for water" - this was the slogan for the first time in the Diocese of Bydgoszcz took place event called St. Francis Sunday. Eco-events, which took place simultaneously in 12 places in Poland, promoted the papal encyclical Laudato Si and at the same time showed how to live in accordance with its principles, caring for and protecting the broadly understood environment.

Huge thanks to the canon priest Jarosław Kubiak parish priest of Parafia p.w. Podwyższenia Krzyża Świętego w Żołędowie

for the invitation and the possibility of organizing this event.

It would not be possible without the great support of the Forest Inspectorate of Żołędowo Forest District Mr. Krzysztof Szajnbor and his entire team.

The whole thing started with the Holy Mass exercised by His Excellency Fr. Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz Jan Tyrawa.

The leitmotif was water and probably St. Francis was very concerned about this, because there was too much water, i.e. rain. Nevertheless, those who visited us did not complain about the lack of attractions. The invited experts talked about nature and environmental protection, healthy food, the value of water in everyday life, the importance of bees and recycling, i.e. replacing the proverbial rubbish with various utility items.

The guests could taste various types of bio food and take home food mini-gifts prepared by the AGROS Producers Group under the "command" of President Adam Różycki. An additional attraction was the possibility to "produce" a shake by pedaling on a special bicycle.

Thanks to Dr. Urszula Żurek from the "Pod Aniołami" Horse Recreation Center in Myślcinek, those willing could try horseback riding and take pictures with a donkey and the Informal Group "Sławek & Friends" showed what can be made of the proverbial rubbish and how to turn it into something useful.

Throughout the event Mr. Jarosław Szymbor from GS Polska presented the irrigation system (drip tapes), you could try eco-treats prepared by Caritas Bydgoszcz, flower seedlings were also prepared by the City Greenery and the Żołędowo Forest District also added tree seedlings as prizes in various competitions. Pronatura Bydgoszcz donated a lot of ecological gadgets and fertilizer of its own production, and the Argonex Printing House printed occasional posters. Les Higiena took care of the disinfection

Jurek Paterski - Your Musician honored the guests with music and playing instruments.

I would like to thank all those who enriched our event and contributed to the fact that the guests returned to their homes very satisfied.

Finally special thanks for the great commitment to the director of Caritas of the Bydgoszcz Diocese pr. Wojciech Przybyła and his irreplaceable team.
