It has become a tradition that on the first Sunday of October we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology. In the diocese of Bydgoszcz, it was celebrated in the parish of Our Lady of Victory.
The whole thing began with the Mass. concelebrated and celebrated by Fr. Bishop Krzysztof Włodarczyk, director Bydgoszcz Caritas Fr. Prelate Wojciech Przybyła and the parish priest of the MBZ parish, Fr. Venantius Zmuda.
The event was guided by the message of the encyclical "Laudato si" - "Our rule over nature is to be in accordance with God's plan" appealed Bishop Krzysztof Włodarczyk, warning against misunderstood ecology, which for many organizations becomes only a source of profit.
The leitmotif of this year's St. Francis was the so-called "divissiblator", which is a form of sharing goods (to a different extent and forms) with others. In addition, there were many other attractions for children and adults, incl. you could decorate a pot yourself, plant a plant and take the prepared "kit" home, try your hand at going through the recycling maze. Visitors also had the opportunity to see the "Eco canal" exhibition showing the richness of flora and fauna of the Bydgoszcz canal and see that what we often consider rubbish and waste can be made into something usable or decorative.
Everyone could also try local delicacies, incl. vegetable spring rolls, plum jam or mini kiwi.
The weather was good, so was the turnout and we are very happy that so many people had the opportunity to see how to be greener in everyday life.
The greatest thanks to Caritas of the Bydgoszcz Diocese and its director. Fr. Prelate Wojciech Przybyła and his team for the enormous amount of work in the preparation and implementation of the entire project.
And a big thank you to the companies and institutions that supported our activities and helped organize this unique event
and Agrotourism farm "Plum Orchard".
